Have a Heart

I have a heart. A pink heart. A heart full of dreams and wishes. This is the heart I want you to see. This is the way I want to be. A heart that’s innocent of crime and guiltless to all. This is the way I want to be. A heart that’s worth giving and free of manipulations or machinations.

I have a heart. A red heart. A passionate heart that is full of ambition. I have a heart that dreams of greater things. I have a dream to share this beautiful red heart with the world. A heart that’s eager to confront the new day. This is the way I want to be. An enthusiastic and enraptured soul with a wonderful future. A red heart to celebrate the experience that is life.

I have a heart. A blue heart. A tender heart that is soft and warm. This sweet heart is easily bruised and longing to love. This heart is so wishful of all. This is the way I want to be. This beautiful heart is a place to seek refuge when the world is falling down. When the world around me is in chaos and despair, this is the way I want to be. A sweet longing for nothing and utter contentment with every hour. A broken sense of urgency and endless denial. A wonderful heart that I’m proud to carry.

But I have a heart. A black heart. A cesspool of misery and suffering. A place that’s constructed with cruelty and manipulation. A core that is corrupt to no end. This is not the way I want to be, but it is what I am. A voracious and dark heart that knows no mercy or hope. A monster of hate and misfortune. A deep mistake that was never meant to be, yet is. This is the heart I long to ignore. This is the soul that should be shunned. This is not the way I want to be. This is what I am.

I have many hearts in these jars on my shelves. I can offer you as many as you like. Each heart is as different as the one before and no two are ever similar.

This is the way I am.
